Top 10 Goals: FIFA Futsal World Cup Brazil 2008

The Futsal finals saw some outrageous highlights, including goals from fabulous chips, long-range blasts, volleys, via combination play and at the end of fancy footwork. Which is your favourite?

Top 5 Futsal (5-a-side) Goals.

Football is renown for having some incredible goals, one only needs to look at the careers of players such as Ronaldinho, Beckham and Raul to see a variety of jaw-dropping strikes. Futsal, though best known for its speed and the need to have a quick pair of feet to get yourself out of trouble, also has its fair share of mind-blowing goals. The following list is not in any particular order as I don’t think I can separate some of these goals!

We start with Turkish international Kenan Ratinho who scores a goal that Christiano Ronaldo would be proud of:

Ratinho goal
The technique involved in scoring a goal like this doesn’t even bear thinking about. Not only does Ratinho use pace and skill to leave a defender stranded he then humiliates the poor goalkeeper by slotting the ball through his legs while pirouetting!

Next up we have Italy international Adriano Foglia and it is similar to Ratinho’s in the sense that as he scores he pirouettes to knock the ball past the keeper:

Adriano Foglia
The reason I class this goal as one of the best is because of the speed at which Foglia had to be thinking as he got to the ball, the keeper has covered his angles well so trying to lob him or place the ball either side of him would be near impossible but Foglia comes up with a moment of pure genius to give his side a 1-0 lead.

The next two spots belong to arguably the best futsal player on the planet, Brazilian international, Falcao, not to be confused with Atletico Madrid’s Colombian superstar of the same name. This goal is an example of speed and skill at its best, Falcao bursts into the area, does a ‘rainbow’ to lob the keeper and then volleys the ball past the hapless defender and into the net:

Falcao rainbow volley.
There is nothing much you can say about a goal like that so I will simply leave you to press the replay button over and over again as you marvel at the sheer brilliance that even players like Ronaldinho may find himself upstaged by.

Falcao’s second goal on this list is one that has gone down in futsal folklore for its awe inspiring skill and audacity. After winning a free kick for his team he then proceeds to take it in the most flamboyant way imaginable, running up to the ball, he pirouettes and flicks the ball off his ankle lobbing not only the defensive wall but the goalkeeper too! Sensational!

Finally we come to Calderolli. This is not the kind of goal usually associated with futsal which is another reason why I have included it as it shows the variety within the game. Calderolli doesn’t so much collect his goalkeepers long ball as rise and scissor kick it past what seems to be a half asleep goalkeeper and into the net, incredible athleticism:
Calderolli scissor kick

And that is my top 5 futsal goals, let me know which one was your favourite or if you disagree and would like to nominate one which is even better.

Types of Futsal Fields

PARQUETTE/PARQUET

Punya tingkat kerataanyang cukup baik, sehingga menjamin kelancaran alur bola

Minus

Plus
Tingkat kerataan sangat bagus, memungkinkan aliran bola berjalan lancer
Permukaan tidak licin

Minus

Plus
Materialnya lembut karena menyerupai rumput
Aliran bola lebih mudah dikuasai

Minus
Bukan tergolong futsal, tetapi indoor soccer

History of Futsal (US Futsal)

About US Futsal

The origin of Futsal (Five-a-Side Soccer) can be traced back to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani devised a five-a-side version of soccer for youth competion in YMCAs. The game is played on basketball-sized courts, both indoors and out without the use of sidewalls.

The term FUTSAL is the international term used for the game. It is derived from the Spanish or Portuguese word for "soccer"-- FUTbol or FUTebol, and the French or Spanish word for "indoor" -- SALon or SALa. The term was adopted by U.S. Futsal since it includes the initials "fUtSAl" (USA). The term was trademarked in the United States after U.S. Futsal changed its corporate name within the state of California.

The game is frequently referred to as Five-A-Side or Mini-soccer. Once Ceriani got the ball rolling, Futsal gained rapid popularity throughout South America, particularly in Brazil. The skill developed in this game is visible in the world-famous style the Brazilians display outdoors on the full-sized field. Pele, Zico, Socrates, Bebeto and other Brazilian superstars developed their skill playing Futsal. While Brazil continues to be the Futsal hub of the world, the game is now played, under the auspices of FIFA, all over the world, from Europe to North and Central America and the Caribbean, South America, Africa, and Asia and Oceania.

The first international competition took place in 1965, when ere held through 1979, with Brazil winning all of them. Brazil continued its dominance with a victory in the first Pan American Cup in 1980 and won it again the next time it was p took part in the 1984 cup, but finished out of the running.

U.S. Futsal was founded in 1981 and incorporated in January, 1983. Osvaldo Garcia was it's first president. The game is referred to as Minisoccer, five-a-side soccer, Futbol Sala or Futebol de Salao, but it is also widly refereed by it trademark name, Futsal. The current U.S. Futsal president is Alex J.C. Para.

The first Futsal World Championship conducted under the auspices of FIFUSA (before its members integrated into FIFA in 1989) was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1982, with Brazil finishing in first place. The Brazilians repeated as champions at the second World Championship in 1985 in Spain, but lost in the third World Championship in 1988 in Australia to Paraguay. FIFA took over direct sponsorship of the event in 1989 in Holland and 1992 in Hong Kong. Brazil won both times. The U.S. Futsal (Indoor Team), finished third in 1989 and second in 1992 at the FIFA Five-a-Side World Championship. The highest showing by any team from the United States in a FIFA tournament until the U.S. Womens team won the gold medal in China for outdoor soccer. The Third FIFA World Championship was held November 24 through December 11, 1996, in Spain and for the first time FIFA names it the FIFA Futsal World Championship. U.S. Futsal has conducted a National Championship each year since 1985. Futsal is establishing itself at the youth level in the U.S. The Boys and Girls Clubs of America took a strong interest after the Columbia Park Club in San Francisco asked U.S. Futsal to give a demonstration. The national organization adopted the sport, and it is now played at about 1,100 Boys and Girlout the U.S. The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) also plays the sport in a close working relationship with U.S. Futsal since 1988.

The U.S. Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and U.S. Futsal signed an agreement in August of 1995 and in 1999, to promote futsal in all their National State Association as their game of choice for indoor soccer under the auspices of U.S. Futsal.
